Tuesday in Braga, Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 in the Nations League to move to the semifinals thanks to an injury-time goal from Alvaro Morata.
The Euro 2020 semifinalist squad, La Roja, struggled on yet another hard night until Morata's game-winning goal in the 88th minute handed them the victory they needed to top League A Group 2.
Although Spain hasn't played its best in the international games leading up to the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, this spirited victory provides a much-needed morale boost.
Spain brightened in the final minutes of the game thanks to the appearance of multiple substitutions, including Nico Williams, who headed the ball across goal for Morata to score. Portugal had the upper hand for the rest of the game.
